The US shale frac industry has grown in leaps and bounds through the Shale Revolution over the last 15 years. Frac designs, technologies deployed and pumping efficiencies have all changed significantly, resulting in liquid-rich shale operators now drilling and completing shale wells for half the original cost while these wells come in at double their first-year production as compared to shale wells 10 years ago.
These changes have made US shale oil very competitive on the world stage while generally making us better neighbors. What design parameters and technologies have delivered these changes? What technologies have been key for production improvements and gains in efficiencies and economies of scale? This presentation will look back at these formative industry changes and will attempt a deeper look into the technologies that will keep US frac’ing competitive through the next few years.
