Webinar: CFD Modeling for Process Safety and Environmental Risk Assessment

Process Safety, Human Health and Environmental Concerns are one of the top operational priorities in Oil & Gas and Chemicals Industries. Given the hazards of dealing with toxic and flammable substance, at high pressure and temperature, the consequence of an accidental release, fire or an explosion may be devastating in terms of human safety, environmental release, and damage to the facility itself.

Understanding, quantifying, and managing risks is critical for oil and gas production and processing facilities. CFD modelling is routinely used in risk-based design of facilities such as offshore platforms, LNG facilities etc. CFD modelling can provide better understanding of process safety events and environmental risk assessment as CFD can predict the extent of the consequence in terms of radiation loads, dispersion of gases or smoke, spread of chemicals or hydrocarbon pools, and subsea release of hydrocarbons.

This webinar aims to bring together experts in academia and industry to brainstorm and help us better understand the current state-of-the-art approach to this highly specialized domain, along with open discussion about challenges or improvements that may be made to provide more confidence to the stakeholders. This workshop will include short talks by key practitioners covering various aspects of CFD modeling, followed by a group discussion.
