ON DEMAND RECORDING - CO2 Storage by the Numbers: A Primer

As interest in CCUS accelerates, the need for CO2 storage is greater than ever. This presentation highlights key terminologies and concepts of CO2 storage, focusing on storage capacity, injectivity, and long-term containment.  While these topics can be highly technical, this primer provides both a high-level overview for those new to the subject and a lower level review for engineers and geoscientists engaged in producing oil and gas projects.

Additionally, there is also an introduction to 45Q that provides a financial incentive for storage projects in the US, and the SRMS that establishes a standard for quantifying storage capacity.  The key takeaway message is that the skillset of oil and gas professionals is ideally suited to developing CO2 storage sites.
