Facilities - Understanding Project Risk Management

In the workplace, most people think of health, environmental and safety issues when discussing risk. In addition to these important issues are the risks associated with meeting the stated objectives of a project.

To be a world-class project development organization, we must deliver a project on time and on budget in a safe and efficient way. Of course, there is uncertainty in achieving this desired goal. In project management terms, these uncertainties may cause a failure to:

Keep within a budget,
Achieve the required completion date, and
Achieve the required performance objective.

When the risks associated with delivering the mission of the group are properly analyzed and managed, the likelihood will increase for the successful completion of a project to schedule, cost and quality objectives, as well as HES and loss control performance objectives.

This talk will outline some key elements of a good Project Risk Management Process, discuss tools available and give some real world examples and lessons learned on past projects.

Petroleum Engineers, Facilities Engineers, Safety Engineers and professionals, Operations personnel, Program and Project managers should all find this talk beneficial.
