Deepwater completions are an expensive undertaking but yield major rewards if performed successfully. Reducing costs and risks while maximizing production is a never-ending quest for these completions. Single-trip systems offer a viable option for reducing costs, however, certain risks are associated with these systems.
Tripping pipe for both shelf and deepwater completions often represents the single most expensive operation. Minimizing trips can significantly reduce operating costs. With today’s wells being drilled deeper, reducing the number of trips required becomes a significant issue. Single-trips encompassing multiple operations performed successfully can offer considerable cost savings. The realized savings will depend upon the type of completion as well as the infrastructure in place.
This presentation will focus on single-trip systems and their applications, cost analyses, and case histories, including a successful deepwater application.
