Continuing Ed. - Geomechanics: Reducing uncertainty and costs for the life of the field
Note: Change of venue!! Intended Audience Introduction to Geomechanics: Geomechanics Applications:
Drillers, petroleum engineers, geoscientists, reservoir engineers or anyone with an interest in geomechanic related solutions.
Description
This course is designed to cover the fundamental principles of geomechanics and their application to oil field problems. We begin with basic mechanics theory, and then explain how to build a Mechanical Earth Model (MEM) that can be used throughout the life of a field. Methods for calibrating and updating in real time are discussed. Solutions to problems from pore pressure and wellbore stability while drilling to sanding, subsidence and casing collapse during production are investigated.
