Northside - Where Exploration Technology has been and where it is going.

Improving seismic capabilities are opening whole new means for evaluating the subsurface structure and properties of a reservoir. This paper will look at the future to see what the geoscientists of 2020 may be doing with seismic. Higher density, higher frequency data will be available. We will no longer only talk about 3 component seismic but we may be talking about 9 component seismic data, with the corresponding increase in the number of volumes which must be interpreted. Technologies may allow the pre-drill evaluation of viscosity allowing the industry to avoid drilling road tar. And to the horror of most reservoir engineers, geophysics and reservoir engineering may merge into one discipline.
