The tutorial is an introduction to the Oilfield development process. It will provide an introduction to field lifecycle:

• Exploration,
• Field development,
• Production,
• Abandonment

In this introduction, we will focus on what it takes to bring hydrocarbon to market starting right after the initial discovery. We will focus on the appraisal and development of the system to get the product to midstream. We will explore the aspect of design, evaluation and decision required for the project at various level of the organization and highlight the link between the discovery of resources, the development process and the economics governing field development through a basic and hypothetical field development .

During the session, we consider the field as a system under development. We will explore the different subsystems and component that influence the decision to go forward. In addition, we will take a look at some of the current practices through participant’s experience.
