Wear and Friction for Energy - Technology and Case Studies

Wear and the study of wear mechanisms are inherently vital to the Oil & Gas industry. Concepts such as surface abrasion, erosion, and galling have potential implications extensively in areas such as drilling and coiled tubing operations.  This course breaks down wear mechanisms to their basics while offering methods for minimizing the effects of pipe on pipe or pipe on formation wear mechanisms (the effects of lubricants, alternate material performance, etc.).  Also covered in the course are standardized tests to simulate wear and rank material performance.
