Main Goal:
After the course, participants will be able to better understand the role of local variable stress on their frac design, how to use that information to constrain and validate their frac design and how to use the improved frac design to better predict well performance and pressure depletion.
Course Overview:
The short course provides a unique opportunity to learn all the aspects related to reservoir geomechanics and its impact on frac design and well performance forecast.
The course will cover the following topics:
- How to get variable geomechanical properties and pore pressure
- Role of natural fractures in engineering applications
- Estimating local stress magnitude and orientation
- Geomechanical modeling of the fracing process and the development of a stimulated volume
- Constrained frac design and its validation
- Estimation of well performance and pressure depletion
- Practical questions on frac design and how to avoid frac hits
- Optimal well spacing and stacking
The short course includes the application of these new concepts to real field data using FracPredictor™.
