Northside: MAXIMIZING VALUE THROUGH RESTIMULATION WITH NEW DIVERSION TECHNOLOGY

This presentation will cover the process, results, and new technology used during a redevelopment project in Noble’s South Texas Eagle Ford asset.  One of the biggest challenges when designing a refrac completion is how to successfully divert the proppant and fluid throughout the entire lateral.  Historically, refracs have had little success due to disproportionately treating the heel and leaving the remaining lateral unstimulated.  To combat this known issue, the Noble’s South Texas Well Engineering team chose to employ a new technology called SlickFrac created by Thru Tubing Solutions. SlickFrac is a knotted rope, wax encapsulated for deployment, that is pumped down the wellbore at designed intervals during the re-stimulation. The knotted rope diverts flow by mechanically sealing off a perforation that was previously taking fluid. The successful application of this technology would drastically improve the chances to divert the flow and stimulate a higher percentage of the lateral.  The conclusions drawn from this first Eagle Ford test will be used to drive improvements in our designs and build a foundation for future programs seeking to capture value left behind in unconventional shale plays.
