General Meeting: What Does the Future of the Offshore and Shipbuilding Industry Look Like…
ABSTRACT of Presentation
Why is the US maritime world so different from the rest of the world? How can Damen and her American based partners be successful in such a difficult and depressed shipbuilding market? And what effect does the Oil & Gas Industry have on the US shipbuilding industry? Where will shipbuilding be 10 or 20 years from now? Mr. van Hogerwou will shed light on a fascinating, but complicated, industry that captures the imagination of many.
The Damen Shipyards Group is a 100% family owned shipbuilding business founded in the Netherlands in 1969. Today they have grown to over 10,000 family members who design, build, sell, deliver and support ships ranging from small pilot boats to large offshore cable layers and construction vessels, to large complex military vessels.
Damen also owns and operates some of the largest ship repair & conversion shipyards in the world where they receive many Oil & Gas related vessels and platforms, but also the most modern cruise ships that sail our oceans. Damen is also one of the most successful super-yacht builders in the world. Damen builds these ships at either one of their own 36 shipyards throughout the world or at any of our 50+ global partnership yards. Damen has built and delivered over 6,000 ships to customers in more than 100 countries. Damen does not own a shipyard in the US, but they are building approximately 70 ships in the US today in a very depressed shipbuilding market.
