BJM Upstreamers Westside
If you are seeking employment in the exploration, development or
production end of the oil and gas industry, you are cordially
invited to attend the next meeting of the BJM Upstreamers on 1 June.
The BJM Upstreamers, a sub-group of the larger 2500 strong Between
Jobs Ministry, currently holds our meetings on Wednesdays of each
month from 8am to 8:50am in the Youth Building (the building closest
to the road) in room 302 of the NW Bible Church in Spring (5503
Fellowship Lane) and on the first Tuesday of each month from 10am to
noon on the westside of Houston. June's westside meeting will be
held at the offices of Collarini Energy Staffing at 11111 Richmond,
Suite 126 (on the SW corner of Richmond and Wilcrest - just west of
Beltway 8).
The BJM Upstreamers was established in April 2003 and is run by
individuals who are seeking contract or full-time employment in the
exploration or production side of the oil and gas business. We
currently have over 190 members and are placing about 3-4 members a
week in jobs. Anyone interested in potential exploration or
production employment is invited to attend any of our meetings and
become a member.
The purpose of the Upstreamer meetings and our BJM Upstreamers'
Yahoo group is to facilitate communication about job leads in the
Upstream oil and gas business. We use a "by invitation only" Yahoo
group as a vehicle to communicate those leads, networking
opportunities and meeting announcements to the entire group. The
greatest benefit of our meetings is the opportunity to expand your
network by talking with other people who are also looking for work.
This networking then provides you with another set of eyes and ears
to the marketplace. The idea being that we will succeed
professionally and emotionally through these difficult times by
working together.
Participants are asked to come to our meetings prepared to share
their 30 second commercial (a brief summary of your qualifications
and what type of work/company you are looking for), have business
cards to handout to the other Upstreamers and share with the group
any job leads or contacts you might have. The only rules the
Upstreamers have about participation in our group are that:
- no one is allowed to use this forum to solicit participant
paid activities (for example: multi-level marketing schemes or
employment services),
- these meetings and the Yahoo group cannot be used to promote a
political platform or agenda, and
- participants will openly share their job leads and lessons
learned with their fellow Upstreamers.
