Career Mgt-Creating Presentations: Content and Form

This presentation explores several techniques that can be used to increase the impact of a PowerPoint slide show. Audience analysis is the first topic. Who is the audience? What do they really want to know? What is the most effective way to tell them? The presentation then focuses on a pair of approaches to subject matter: features and benefits, concepts commonly used in sales. Since every engineering presentation tries to sell a product, service, idea, or position, features and benefits can be powerful tools for presenters. The next topic covered is controlling the amount and clarity of verbal information presented on slides through the use of bullets, numbered lists, precise and positive language, and parallel structure. Finally, the presentation focuses on visual form, the importance of white space, wise choices of backgrounds, and appropriate use of the basic design principles of contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity.

If you have ever had to do a PowerPoint presentation, this one is for you!
