R&D Study Group: Internet of Things – Hype or Operational Improvement Opportunity
There has been a constant barrage of articles on Internet of Things (IoT). Is this hype or an opportunity for upstream operators to reduce costs and increase production through better insight and control? This session will provide a pragmatic look at opportunities to innovate by leveraging “things” across the enterprise. Among the challenges to leveraging IoT are fragmentation due to different protocols in hardware & software of different edge (IoT) assets to creating a robust end-to-end integration from the edge to the enterprise. This session will explore emerging trends and new applications in IoT, discuss approaches to operationalizing IoT value and offer insights from other industries that are embracing IoT.
