Northside - Optimized Gaswell Completions and Operations

The production and storage of natural gas has become a primary focus for many petroleum engineers in all areas of the world. Because of its compressibility and low viscosity, gas is often produced at relatively high velocities, resulting in much increased risks of non-Darcy flow effects, friction losses and erosion-corrosion than is seen in most oil wells. In addition, because of its high mobility, gas can be produced from much lower permeability reservoirs and finer micro-fractures than would contribute to oil production. All of which means that gas development and storage operations provides great scope for the Petroleum Engineer to Optimize the Completions and System Operations in order to minimize energy losses and to maximize net present worth and recovery. Bob Pearson’s talk looks at integrating the efforts of Reservoir; Production & Well Construction Engineers to assess non-conventional well design opportunities that are tailored to the prevailing reservoir conditions.
