Reservoir - Deepwater Well Flow Rates, Actual and Prediction Challenges

Knowledge Reservoir and the DeepStar consortium have compiled a Reservoir Knowledge Base of well productivity metrics for the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The statistical range of peak rate and productivity index for over 250 wells will be discussed including the impact of turbidite depositional system.

The Gulf of Mexico is unique where field development is often undertaken without conducting a flow test during the appraisal operations. Well productivity is predicted from field analogs and reservoir simulation using input from log evaluation and core studies. Knowledge Reservoir will discuss lessons learned related to translating air permeabilities from rock textural data and conventional core studies to reservoir condition liquid permeability for the prediction of well initial flow rate.

Other assumptions affecting the simulation of initial oil rate will also be discussed including connection factors for deviated wells, drawdown constraints, skin factor and rock compaction.

Walk-ins will be accepted on a space available basis.  Please arrive early, walk-ins are seated on a first come/first serve basis.
