Westside: Vertical Fracture Characterization in the Delaware Basin Wolfcamp Using Multiple Diagnostic Technologies

In many unconventional reservoirs, accurately predicting effective fracture height remains one of the biggest challenges.  In thick stacked plays like the Wolfcamp formation in the Delaware Basin, effective fracture height becomes a critical factor in determining the number of stacked laterals required to successfully develop the acreage.  ConocoPhillips recently designed a vertical fracture characterization well to empirically determine and gain critical insight into created fracture height.  The presentation will review the framework, observations, and findings from this project and will offer a comparison to other diagnostics used for characterizing fracture geometry.
