Come join us for the joint Professional Development Meeting with the Society of Petroleum Engineers - Gulf Coast Section sponsored by BP, and with guest speaker Evalyn M. Shea, the President of Shea Writing and Training Solutions, Inc.

After graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1982, Evalyn took time out to start her family, raising two daughters.

In 1991 Evalyn joined the staff of a Houston-based technical writing company. Rising to Vice President in two years, she ultimately held overall responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations. She helped bring the business into profitability and during her tenure the company tripled in size and added three remote offices.

Evalyn established Shea Writing and Training Solutions (Shea) in 1997. Shea is a technical writing and training provider helping clients in the oil and gas industry create clarity out of chaos, one sentence at a time.

Now a $3.5 million company, Shea is working with clients in the U.S. and overseas, fulfilling its mission to make the world a better place by helping people communicate. Shea approaches both training and writing from the point of view of the user and adheres to a philosophy of Learner Owned Training©. The training designers at Shea are passionate about creating interactive training events that engage and empower the learner.

Evalyn is active in various professional associations, including the Association of Mechanical Engineers (International Offshore Pipeline Forum Steering Committee), the Association of Proposal Management Professionals, the Marine Technology Society, the Society of Professional Women in Petroleum, and the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance. Evalyn is a member of the Women’s Energy Network and the Society for Technical Communication. Evalyn has also volunteered as an Energy Advisor at the Houston Technology Center.

Evalyn keeps planning to learn golf in her “spare” time and lives with her husband, dog, two cats, and assorted tropical fish in southwest Houston.
