Digital Energy: Schlumberger Digital Oil Field Experience

Digital Field technology has become the standard for green field development in our industry with brown field development moving toward greater levels of digitization.  Digital field technology has evolved from gathering data to online analysis and performing real time optimization during the past forty years. Our industry has leveraged the digital oilfield platform to reduce OPEX and CAPEX by reengineering workflows. These workflows have either replace human activities in the work process making them more efficient and by providing proactive operational and optimization advice.

Today, the E&P industry is facing more high frequency and high volume data challenges from the technical side with associated change management challenges from non-technical side. These technical and non-technical challenges reinforce the importance of technology, processes and people whose organic coupling is the foundation of the digital oilfield.  We, as an industry, have struggled with achieving the right balance of this trio which is tested as we drill in more remote locations, increase collaboration among E&P engineers across multiple office located at greater distances from the well site.  And, if that is not enough, our industry is working to increase our understanding of unconventional resources which require a better understanding of the geology, rock mechanics and quicker response to well performance related issues.

This presentation will introduce Schlumberger Digital Oil Field experience.
