ADVANCED DECLINE CURVE ANALYSIS COURSE

 

 

This one-day course will show how log-log type curve analysis can be performed on declining production rate data completely analogous  to the log-log type curve matching procedure presently being employed with constant rate case pressure transient data. Numerous case studies of individual oil and gas wells, of groups of wells in a field and of total fields will be presented. Some of the basic concepts of decline curve analysis will be brought out with each of the examples. The course objectives are:    

·        To highlight the importance of identifying transient production when present. Never use the depletion equations for rate time analysis for transient production.

·        To define the variables in the Arps’ Decline Equation: b, D_i and Q_i, in terms of simple reservoir engineering concepts and reservoir drive or recovery mechanisms. A physical reservoir engineering basis for each of the variables will be pointed out during the lecture.
