Westside: Horizontal Well Completions: The Conflict between Short and Long-Term Recovery

The relatively close well and fracture spacing used in the completion of many horizontal wells, and the push to create transverse fractures are suited for high short-term well productivity.  This has resulted in a high frequency of communication between offset horizontal wells.  Some experts believe that the creation of a network of interconnected fractures is desirable for achieving higher well productivity.  This presentation takes a closer view of our present completion strategies and their impact on short and long-term reservoir productivity.
