Avoiding Pitfalls in Shale Developments: Lessons for New Operators, Vendors and Investors

Abstract:During the last ten years, shale developments have produced large amounts of learnings, both good and bad, which can be can be grouped into best practice areas.  These lessons may be highly useful to new entrants to save money, time and frustration when shale plays are being considered.    Concerns from both the local population and the businesses involved in shale developments can include chemicals, water, pollution, traffic and other factors; but these are just starting points. This talk presents a frame work of good practices for scientific research, local communication and technology application that may minimize some of the challenges that all shale developments face.
