Permian Basin: Tight Oil in New Mexico - Commerciality of the Avalon Shale and Bone Spring.

Abstract:

With the focal shift to oil and liquids-rich plays, applying horizontal drilling and advanced completion techniques, the Bone Spring Play has emerged as a promising growth area and leasing hotspot in the mature Delaware Basin in southeastern New Mexico.

Since 2007, over 250 horizontal wells have been drilled in the play with improving results. How do depth, thickness, and gas quality vary? What oil and gas yields can be expected? What IRR can be expected from an average well? Are there infrastructure problems to address? Which operators are strategically positioned in the play? This presentation will analyze the economics of the play and answer key commerciality questions.
