PF&C: The First FPSO in US GoM – The 14 Year Journey
The April feature with this title in SPE’s Journal of Petroleum Technology is discussed by its author, exploring the insights to be gained from key managers in GoM operators, the regulatory collaboration, multiple considerations of FPSOs for earlier developments in the US GoM, the effects of different operator philosophies in GoM deepwater concept selection, the circumstances that led to the first FPSO in US GoM and what may be ahead. First oil from the BW Pioneer FPSO at the Petrobras operated Cascade/Chinook development is due about a month after this presentation. The discussion draws on information presented at the 24th Annual FPSO conference in London in December and at the 10th Annual FPSO Congress in Singapore in September.
