“Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know about Frac Proppants... But Were Afraid to Ask!

The success of the fracture stimulation is a major factor in the development of today’s unconventional gas reservoirs such as tight gas, shale plays and Coal Bed Methane.  These fractures provide the flow path for the fluids to the wellbore.  In most cases, the more conductive these fractures are, the more production a well will make.  Of course, a critical part of the fracture conductivity is the proppant.  This presentation will discuss the history of proppant, review the most common types of proppant, explain terminology used when describing proppant physical properties and review how the critical proppant tests are performed.  Attendees will come away with a more thorough knowledge of these materials, and ample time will be allowed for questions and answers.
