Drilling: Performance Drilling – An Operator’s Perspective, with Case Histories

There are several positions in the industry on what constitutes performance drilling. In some instances the use of new technology, sophisticated tools, or expensive drive systems is classified as performance drilling. The presentation will discuss and also show that this position is severely flawed.

Performance drilling will be defined and discussed in detail. In addition, a new benchmarking process will be discussed. Operational and mechanical efficiency, based on their individual and combined effects on performance drilling, will be reviewed. The contributions of benchmarking, to the value creation process, will also be discussed. Field data, supporting the new positions and arguments will be presented.
