Reservoir: Closed Loop Field Management

Shell's Smart Fields(r) program focuses on continuous asset performance improvement over all timescales from seconds and minutes to months and years. At the heart of such a capability lies a hierarchy of integrated models. This presentation will show how systematic application of data driven and physical and empirical models to decision making, process control automation, surveillance monitoring and optimization improves, for an asset management team, overall situation awareness, diagnostic accuracy, and robust option evaluation. Ultimately this gives improved economic value. Overcoming the challenges to effective integration of measurements, modeling, decision making and execution is a primary agenda. Working this agenda with emphasis on new technology, instrumentation, data assimilation, business process redesign and collaborative decision making scopes Shell's capability development program. Systematic application of these capabilities in our assets is ongoing and tangible benefits are clear.
