7th Annual GOM Deepwater Technical Symposium
Drilling Technology:
Advancements in deepwater drilling technology have fueled a
step-change in efficiency and allowed for new milestones to be
challenged. The deepwater Gulf of Mexico again proves to be a
most active and fertile ground for the testing and implementation of
new ideas. In keeping with this year’s theme, Exploiting the
Deepwater Frontier, several of the presentations will emphasize
improvements in development drilling technologies and processes.
• Petronius Extended Reach Drilling – Successes and Lessons Learned
• Development of Deepwater Mooring Systems for MODU’s
• Lofty Deepwater Development Costs Call for New Answers in Rig Design
• Intelligent Application of Rotary Steerable Technology in Deepwater
• Engineered Particle Size Distribution Cement - A New Standard in the Gulf of Mexico
• Drilling the Well of the Future Today using Real Time Planning, Operations & Learning
Society of Petroleum Engineers
Reservoir and Economics
Accurate reservoir characterization, uncertainty assessment, and development optimization are keys to economic success in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Understanding and management of
reservoir and economic risk are fundamental contributors to overall project success. This session will demonstrate the value achieved with quality data, thorough analysis, and optimized development.
• Effect of Oil Based Mud Contamination on Live Fluid Asphaltene Onset Pressure
• Horn Mountain 3D Reservoir Modeling Workflow
• Seismically Constrained High Resolution Geologic Modeling
• Economic Influence of Geologic Factors for Turbidite Reservoirs Utilizing Stochastic Reservoir Modeling Techniques
• Application of “Off-the-Shelf” Subsea Technology to Various Reservoir Types and Development Economics
• Valuing Flexibility vs. Appraisal in Field Developments
