Northside - Frac-Pack Design Methodology: A Recipe to Success

Frac-pack is a preferred cased hole sand control completion technique for wells that are prone to sand production.  At inception, hard rock hydraulic fracturing design concepts were being applied.  However, the learning curve has been steep resulting in better understanding and significant improvement in design methodology.

This presentation discusses the process required to properly design a frac-pack.  Recent developments in fluid selection and accurate prediction of closure pressure are presented. Deepwater challenges and means to overcome them are addressed.  Case histories will be shown to demonstrate the importance of following a systematic design approach.  In essence the presentation focuses on effective ways to lower the skin and consequently optimize well performance.
