PF&C: Goal Zero in a Non-Zero World
The Perdido Development Project is a development of the Great White, Silver Tip and Tobago fields in the remote western Gulf of Mexico , located in ultra-deep waters. Perdido will be the first development of the Lower Tertiary (Paleogene) geologic setting in the Gulf of Mexico . Moored in 7817 feet of water in Alaminos Canyon Block 857, the spar host will be the world’s deepest drilling and production facility in the world. In 9627 feet of water, the Tobago subsea oil well will be the deepest producing well in the world.
Even given the difficult technical and marketplace challenges that had to be overcome, the Perdido project leaders committed themselves, as the highest priority, to achieving “Goal Zero”, where no one would be hurt delivering the project or operating the asset in the future. Perdido’s experiences in delivering a Goal Zero project, including strategies, successes and learnings, will be discussed in this presentation.
