Northside - Torque and Drag Prediction for Deviated Wellbore

Torque and drag problems are very common during drilling, completion, and workover operations. Excessive torque and drag from Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) can result in buckling, failure of pipe or operations. Accurate prediction of torque and drag is necessary during the planning, execution and post-analysis stages of operations.

This presentation uses easy-to-understand graphics to address the parameters affecting torque and drag management such as friction factors (F.F.), survey data and well path tortuosity for deviated wellbores.  Discussion includes how to use the torque and drag prediction to avoid potential problems before the actual drilling.
