In all instances, and as a require ment to facilitate development of appropriate solutions, sources of vibrat ions must always be identified. Vibrations mode identification, while imp ortant, has less significance in comparison to vibrations source identific ation. Source identification improves efficiency of remediation strategie s. \r\nThe discussion will show why severe vibrations, which could not b e resolved with the known remediation strategies including &ndash\; bit se lection, BHA modeling, drilling parameter changes, persisted over several different projects. Specifically, it will be shown that the dynamic condi tions always worsened when the known strategies were executed, even when t he specific vibrations modes were claimed to have been identified with dow nhole measurements. \r\nMost important, the presentation will also show re -focusing on the problems resulted in the identification of a new vibratio ns source. This was aided by extensive analysis of worn downhole tools an d their failure patterns.
