Prior to detailing this year&rsquo\;s tournament, we would like to take this op portunity to thank each of you for making last year&rsquo\;s tournament an overwhelming success. Due to your incredible support, the tournament cont ributed $30,000 to the SPE-GCS Scholarship Fund and $5,000 to the Bright L ight Foundation. This in itself speaks volumes of the companies and peopl e who make up our industry. Again, thank you very much.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\ n For the 2010 tournament, the SPE-GCS Sporting Clays Committee has decid ed to hold the tournament at Rio Brazos on Friday the 11th of June. The m anagement team at Rio Brazos is extremely excited about hosting the tourna ment again for this year. The facility will be available for practice on the Monday through Thursday preceding the tournament from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. If you would like to rent Golf Carts for the tournament, please cont act Rio Brazos at 713-854-5876. Additionally, this year we are planning to allow teams to register early at a location in the Houston Area. There w ill be more details about the time and location in the team captain&rsquo\ ;s letter prior to tournament day.\r\n \r\n \r\n Once again, we are ple ased to announce that in addition to the SPE-GCS Scholarship Fund this yea r, the committee has decided to support the Bright Light Foundation (BLF) as our outside charity. The Bright Light Foundation&rsquo\;s mission is t o raise funds, in the spirit of compassion and fun, to assist with the med ical needs of those within the oilfield community stricken by catastrophic illness. The funds raised by this foundation are distributed among selec ted families to assist with medical cost due to major illness. Last year this foundation, with our help, was able to assist two families and we inv ite each of you to visit the BLF web site to read their stories at www.bri ght-light-foundation.com. We think everyone will agree with the committee that this is a worthwhile foundation for the funds raised at this year&rs quo\;s event.\r\n \r\n The tournament is limited to the first 700 shooter s (140 five-man teams). Last year&rsquo\;s sponsors will have first prior ity to renew their sponsorship. Sponsoring companies will receive a shoot ing spot preference and those with sponsoring levels that include a team w ill be guaranteed a spot. At least one team member must be a current SPE m ember and T.B.A. (To Be Announced) participants are acceptable. SPE-GCS r eserves the right to limit the number of team entries per company, dependi ng upon the response to the tournament. The entry fee includes: 100-targe t sporting clay round, a tournament gift, food, drinks and a wonderful day of fun and fellowship. Door prizes will be awarded and several shotguns will be raffled off. Trophies will be given to the top three teams in eac h class and the top male and top female shooters. Please note that this t ournament was sold out last year by mid-May, so get your sponsorship and t eam entry forms in early. \r\n \r\n Please help make this year&rsquo\;s t ournament a success by showing your support in purchasing sponsorships, do nating door prizes and/or participating in the event.
