While w ater conservative irrigation practices are currently strongly promoted, tr adeoffs between depletion of water resources and salinization need to be u nderstood. The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive asse ssment of the impacts of irrigation on groundwater resources, including wa ter quantity and quality, in the southern High Plains (SHP) using unsatura ted and saturated zone data. Boreholes were drilled under different land u se settings\; 4 under rangeland, 19 under rainfed agriculture, and 13 unde r irrigated agriculture. Soil samples were analyzed for matric potential a nd water-extractable Cl and NO3. Groundwater-table and solute hydrographs were also evaluated.\n\n--- This iCal file does *NOT* confirm registration .Event details subject to change. ---\r\n\r\n--- By Tendenci - The Open So urce AMS for Associations ---\r\n UID:uid1427@spegcs.org SUMMARY:CANCELLED Permian Basin: Effects of Irrigated Agriculture on Water Quantity and Quality in the High Plains Aquifer DTSTART:20100216T173000Z DTEND:20100216T190000Z CLASS:PUBLIC PRIORITY:5 DTSTAMP:20240329T003001Z TRANSP:OPAQUE SEQUENCE:0 LOCATION:Westlake Club X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:
