Description

BP the first to Use Polyester on GoM MODUs and FPS’ BP was the first to install a complete polyester Taut Leg Mooring system to a MODU in the GoM with the installation completed in September 2001. BP is also planning to use the first permanent polyester mooring system in the GoM on the Mad Dog truss spar. For the Mad Dog spar, the polyester ropes will be the largest ever made and will be the first time a polyester mooring system has been used on a spar. This presentation will provide the audience with an overview of both of these projects. Topics addressed will include the mooring design issues unique to polyester, prototype testing, rope manufacturing, installation, and inspection.
