Azeezat Otulana co-founded 1010 coding because of her long history of benevolence to kids by providing knowledge and support. From empowering kids at orphanages, organizing catch-them-young programs for secondary school students to holding summer camps to enlighten middle schoolers on engineering and technology, Azeezat has remained a steadfast educator. She recognizes the potential in investing in young minds because they are the key to the future.

Currently, Azeezat works as a Reservoir Engineer with an independent oil & gas producing company based in Houston, Texas, where she focuses on brown field development, reserves estimation, developing transformative solutions for mature fields by combining subject matter expertise and technology, evaluating oil and gas assets for acquisition, and preparing divestment packages. She holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Houston, USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

When she is not working, Azeezat looks for ways to give back to her society by volunteering and mentoring. She volunteers as a Mentor for the National Society of Black Engineers Summer Program for Kids and the Women In Engineering Week, teaching kids fun principles, projects and career options in Engineering and Technology. She also mentors members of the Society of Petroleum Engineering University of Ibadan Chapter in aspects of career choice and development, where she was the Social and Welfare Director for the same chapter. During her tenure, she implemented a lot of volunteer programs to primary, secondary schools and orphanages in her locale. She is also a member of the governance of the University of Ibadan Technology Alumni Association, for launching training programs for alumni, faculty and students.

Azeezat’s inspiration for co-founding 1010 coding was an extension of her love for working with kids and her passion for giving back to her country. Having lived in developed countries, she wanted to bridge the gap in learning by providing foreign opportunities to Nigerian kids, thereby investing in the future development of Nigeria. Azeezat hopes to impart in 1010 Coding her expertise in educating children in technology, her vision for a better Nigeria, her people skills and leadership skills.
