Brad Farmer currently serves as an Enterprise Sales Leader for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Houston, TX.  Brad has been with AWS for 4+ years in a variety of sales and sales management roles.  Prior to joining AWS, Brad worked in sales at two Silicon Valley data storage/virtualization start-ups and also spent over a decade in sales at EMC Corporation working with a variety of oil & gas companies including ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and Kinder Morgan.  Brad received a B.B.A from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Rice University.

William J. (John) Berger is the Chairman, President and CEO of Sunnova. John founded Sunnova in 2012 and has since then served as Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman of the Board. With more than two decades of experience in the electric power industry, John is an energy entrepreneur who has always supported free market competition, consumer choice and the advancement of energy technology to power energy independence. Before Sunnova, John served as Founder and Chief Executive Officer at SunCap Financial, a residential solar service provider. He also founded Standard Renewable Energy, a provider and installer of renewable energy and energy-efficient products and services. John received his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.

Panelist


Andrea Course works in Shell Ventures as a Venture Principal where she invests in innovative start and scale-up companies that accelerate the energy transition. She has 13 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Shell, Andrea worked as Venture Principal at Schlumberger Technology Investments. Andrea has been working on research and new technology development for almost ten years and has held the positions of Product Manager, Senior Product Analyst, Engineering Manager and Product Design Engineer. She holds a degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master of Science from the University of Oklahoma in Aerospace Engineering and an executive MBA from the University of Houston.


Panelist


Karen Olsonis currently the president of Olson and Associates. She is the former Director of Technologies for Southwestern Energy Company, served as Director of the Strategic Solutions Team, which was accountable for leading their Freshwater Neutral initiative. Olson has been a Completion/Reservoir Engineer over 30 years with expertise in the design/modeling and operational execution of hydraulic fracturing. She recently received the inaugural Sustainability and Stewardship in the Oil and Gas Industry Award from SPE. Olson holds a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from LSU and an MS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M. She currently serves on the Industry Board for the Petroleum Engineering Department at Texas A&M.

Sriram Srinivasan is Vice President of Haliburton Global Technology. In the role, he oversees the company's technology investments and intellectual propoerty, the development of new products and services, and the strategy and structure of the technology organization. Previously he was VIce President of Technology for the Drilling & Evaluation Division. 


Moderator


Trent Jacobs is the Digital Editor of the Journal of Petroleum Technology, the highest-circulated monthly magazine in the E&P business and the flagship publication of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). His career in journalism began in 2006 as a freelance reporter in Haiti. In 2010, he returned to his hometown of Houston and joined the oil and gas industry to tell the stories of upstream innovators. The first stop was Helix Energy Solutions where he helped create a communications strategy to educate the industry and public about the world’s first subsea oil spill containment system that was invented to control the Macondo blowout in the Gulf of Mexico. Since joining the SPE in 2013, Mr. Jacobs’ reports and analyses of emerging trends and technologies have been cited in more than 300 technical and research papers.

John Barratt is the founder and CEO of the Oil & Gas Innovation Center based in Palo Alto, California.  The Oil & Gas Innovation Center is a specialized technology scouting service that identifies and showcases promising technologies from other industries having crossover applicability in the petroleum industry.  Mr. Barratt founded the company in 2007 and, in the years since, the Oil & Gas Innovation Center has showcased over 450 worldwide technologies.  The largest global oil & gas producers and oil service companies have corporate subscriptions to this unique service.  The Oil & Gas Innovation Center regularly polls its member community regarding their technology needs and subsequently uses this information to refine the technology search process, thereby delivering demonstrable value to its members.  Subscribers receive a monthly email newsletter and access to a large database of compelling technologies.  Mr. Barratt is a frequent speaker at industry events and has also authored multiple articles for trade publications.  He has an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Liz Percak-Dennett is a passionate technologist  10+ years of experience and deep domain expertise in oil and gas geology. Liz is currently a Solutions Architect at AWS where she is focused on bringing cloud-computing based workflows to the Energy sector. Prior to that she was a Senior Scientist and Technology Director at Biota Technology, and a geologist with Hess Corporation. Liz holds a BS in geology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and an MS and PhD in geoscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she researched geomicrobiology on modern and ancient Earth as part of the NASA Astrobiology Institute. Liz’s passions include building things, solving problems, and stubbornly refusing to believe things are “hard”.
