Speaker #1 Abstract: Identifying and Promoting Your Unique Selling Points During Your Job Search

When in job search, we can never underestimate the competition. The only thing between us and our next great opportunity is someone who can sell their values, skills, abilities and accomplishments better than us to that potential employer. In this workshop, Tracey will explain and exemplify techniques to develop an image and a prose that will differentiate you from the competition. Tracey will explain the process of image building on paper, on line, and during interviews, and how to sell your product (YOU) to others in an effective and successful way. In addition, this workshop will cover strategic steps to successful networking and how your networking efforts will pay off by reaching out to those influencers who can give you the candidacy advantage at an organization. As a bonus, Tracey will provide suggestions and tips for networking during the holiday season.

Speaker #2 Abstract: A Strategy for Expanding Options

The difficulties in transitioning as a petroleum engineer today is not a lot different from the difficulties thirty years ago. It’s still hard; the competition is fierce; you still have to generate business. My suggestion is to analyze a bit about what worked in the past, see what we can learn from it, and figure out how to apply it today:

  • A brief look at 2015-2019: Did we learn anything?

  • Leaner for longer? Again?

  • Is consulting the next phase of my career? I’ve heard about forming a corporate entity, but I don’t why or how. Is there any real value to having one? What mistakes can I avoid?

  • I’m just a lawyer now. How can my transition experience be of any value to you?

  • You can see the energy future. But how can we use that knowledge?

Speaker #3 Abstract: Technology Entrepreneurship in Oil & Gas

With the new focus on Technology in Oil & Gas, we have seen a number of start-ups come from oil & gas professionals during this transition period, which has been a catalyst.  But there are some fundamental issues that need to be looked at before you make the leap……

  • What are the latest trends in technology? Where is there saturation?  What is emerging?

  • I have an idea, but do not know where I should start? What do I need to think about before I make the leap?

  • How do Oil & Gas Operators look at star- up companies and walk through the various components starting with Value Proposition?

  • Where and why do so many companies fail? What can I do to be successful if I want to take the leap into entrepreneurship?
