PART 3:  UPLOAD YOUR RESUME BY OCTOBER 8

In preparation for this event, job seekers must upload their resumes to the SPE-GCS website.  Before you attempt to do so, we strongly urge you to read all of the detailed instructions that you can see by clicking here.  For example, you will see that the field labeled “Title” is actually expecting you to enter your last name and first name, separated by a comma.  Also note that Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V work better than Copy and Paste on most browsers.  Once you have read the instructions, proceed to upload your resume by clicking here.  Note that uploaded resumes will only remain in the system for 90 days, at most.  If it has been longer than 90 days since your last resume upload, you must do it again.

The deadline for your resume upload is October 8, 2019.  If you have not uploaded your resume by then, your registration will be cancelled.  This is because the employers must have adequate lead time before the October 15th event to review the resumes to help them focus on job seekers who are well matched to their job openings.  Submit your resume even if it's past Oct. 8, and we will provide it to the employers.

OTHER RECOMMENDED PREPARATIONS

Review the list of participating employers on this page and check their websites for job openings.  We update the list regularly, as new employers register for a booth.  Bring enough copies of your resume for each of the companies that you plan to visit.

Also, don’t miss the excellent video presentation from long-time recruiter, Ramesh Anand, entitled, “Job Fair:  Fare Well or Farewell”.  He has shared many useful tips about how to maximize your effectiveness at job fairs.  Click here to watch the video.

Register to attend the SPE GCS Members in Transition seminar on Oct. 4: https://www.spegcs.org/events/4401/

Melanie Woods will speak on “Succeeding in the Job Search Process".

THE RECRUITER PANEL DISCUSSION

“Early-bird” registration for the 8:00 entry time entitles you to admission to the recruiter panel discussion from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.  Here are the headlines (below).  More detail can be found on the event website here.

A panel discussion entitled "Preparing for the Upturn" will also be held as part of the hiring event.  The seminar will be held before the job fair and seating will be limited to first 66 people who register.

The Oil & Gas industry has changed dramatically over the past 5 yrs. While this has presented opportunities for many, it has also left many professionals behind and in the unemployment lines.  Which begs questions such as:

  • How to deal with gaps in employment history?
  • How to keep skills current?
  • How to transition to another part of the energy industry or a new industry?
  • Which industries would my skills better translate?
  • How to reinvent yourself in the energy industry?

This will be an interactive discussion from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. including a Q/A session.
