Software training for Members in Transition only. You must be a professional member of SPE not currently working for an employer to take this class.  No Walkins.

  • Summary: This hands-on course helps students develop Kingdom software skills by progressing through a basic seismic processing interpretation workflow, advancing to gridding, contouring and time-to-depth conversion. Students will also be shown how to generate seismic velocity and depth volumes, seismic attribute volumes, High Frequency Inversion volumes, and some simple post-stack seismic processing interpretation techniques. This course prepares the participant to display and mistie correct seismic data, generate various types of seismic data volumes and display types, interpret and manage faults and horizons, grid and contour well and seismic data and perform depth conversions
  • Prerequisite: This course is not intended to teach entry-level interpretation skills or definitions. Some product experience required

Associate Director – Customer Solutions Jenga Ngalawa, Ph.D., provides training and Tier 3 support to IHS Markit customers in the Americas, focusing on Kingdom and Petra. In addition to mentoring and support, as an experienced geologist and geophysicist he is able to address day-to-day issues and give onsite, as well as offsite support when required. Prior to joining the company in 2010, Dr. Ngalawa was a senior geoscientist working on the new generation 3-D geological interpretation software development and workflows solutions team at Austin GeoModeling (2007-2010); a geoscientist in the exploration technology and Gulf of Mexico deep-water-development groups at Kerr-McGee/Anadarko Petroleum (2003-2007); a geoscientist in the reservoir software (GeoFrame) commercialization group at Schlumberger (2000-2003). Dr. Ngalawa attained a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Geology from the Free University of Brussels (VUB), Belgium, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology awarded by University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
