Speaker #1 Bio: Dwayne Purvis, P.E.  has spent over two decades in reservoir engineering and executive leadership as a consultant and operator.  Mr. Purvis has published on issues of reserves, risk analysis and shale reservoirs.  He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas, member of SPEE, AAPG, SEG and a 25-year member of SPE.

Event #1 Description/Presentation Abstract:  Ethics of Brinkmanship

Ethical people are the most common doers of unethical deeds, and they often do it because they don't realize they have gone over the edge.

Mr. Purvis will examine how people get into situations that place them at professional, moral and legal risk, then how to recognize, evaluate and resolve them.  Using a combination of videos, examples, and condescending pontification, Mr. Purvis help to raise your sensitivity to and skill to resolve ethical challenges.  This talk is designed to meet ethics requirement for continuing education for licensure.

There is a perception outside of the industry that innovation doesn't happen in oil and gas, or at least not as much as it should. We will assess the velocity and diversity of innovation across key technology domains, and highlight the inventors behind them. For discussion, bring your insights on: How can we promote inventors in the innovation lifecycle?
