Description

The SPE Members in Transition Seminar Series is designed to include a selection of topics of interest to SPE members who are transitioning in between jobs during the current industry downturn or who are looking for new career opportunities.  The agenda for the sixth seminar in the series will include:  “The New Swing Producer: The Role of US Oil Supply in an Upcycle”, “Best practices in writing resumes/CVs and cover letters,” and “ SPE Insurance Program for Members.”

The New Swing Producer:  the Role of US Oil Supply in an Upcycle:

In 2014 the growth in US oil production was the highest recorded by any country in any year since the birth of the oil industry 150 years ago.   But now that prices have fallen and the industry has gone through a painful re-adjustment and diminished capacity, what does the future look like.  Will the global market offer another opportunity for US companies to continue the unconventional revolution?  In this talk, we will review how the global system works, how the US system interacts with it, and what the future holds for US oil growth.

Best practices in writing resumes/CVs and cover letters:

Getting hired in today’s tough employment market depends heavily on selling your capabilities to an employer in a face to face interview.  Hear what resume structure and features prompts business owners and hiring managers to want a face to face interview.  Resume topics will include brevity, clear statement of skill set (what can you do for me today?), positions held and responsibilities, structure and cover letter / interview basics.  Review/critique of resumes will be offered as time allows.

SPE Insurance Program for Members:

For decades, SPE has made Group Insurance Medical Plans available to its members, along with several other plans (life insurance, cancer insurance, dental insurance, etc.).  With the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the insurance landscape has changed.  Learn how to find the details of the plans made available through SPE.
