Nurul Shams Rusli is the current Director of MIDA Houston and was appointed on June 17, 2014. He is a certified public accountant and a registered member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Shams commenced working for the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) as an Economic Executive in 2002. He served as Deputy Director of MIDA in Los Angeles from 2007 to 2010. Subsequently, he became the Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Coordination Division, responsible for Malaysian Investment Promotion Strategies and Programmes globally and domestically, overseeing US and Asian offices.

Shams graduated from the University Utara Malaysia with a Bachelor of Accountancy (B.A. Honours) in 1997.  The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) is the government’s principal agency for the promotion of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia. MIDA assists companies intending to invest in the manufacturing and services sectors, as well as facilitates the implementation of their projects. The wide range of services provided by MIDA includes providing information on the opportunities for investments, as well as facilitating companies which are looking for joint venture partners.

Jonathan Yap is the current Center Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) Houston and was appointed on 1 February, 2014. Jonathan is in charge of EDB’s industry promotion efforts in Texas for the Oil & Gas and Technology industries. Prior to his current appointment, Jonathan previously was part of the consumer electronics and upstream oil & gas sectors in Singapore, where he helped companies establish and expand their base of operations.

Jonathan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Hons), Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, and subsequently, a Master of Science in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. EDB is the lead government agency for planning and executing strategies to enhance Singapore's position as a global business center.
