Bus. Devt: Natural Gas – Have the Contrarians Finally Been Vindicated?

Scott W. Smith is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Vanguard Natural Resources and has over 35 years of experience in the energy industry, primarily in business development, marketing, and acquisition and divestitures. Scott has been the President and Chief Executive Officer for Vanguard since October 2006. Prior to joining Vanguard, Scott served as the President of Ensource Energy Company, LLC and was a Board and executive committee member of Wiser Oil Company. Earlier in his career, Scott was the co-manager of San Juan Partners, LLC, which established control of the Burlington Resources Coal Seam Gas Trust which was sold to Dominion Resources, Inc.

John Jacobi is the Co-CEO of Covey Park Energy and has over 30 years of energy industry experience. He began his career in 1981 for Woolf & Magee where he was involved in E&P acquisitions for the drilling company. In 1991, John co-founded Jacobi-Johnson Energy and served as its President focusing on acquisitions in the ArkLaTex and Gulf Coast. Jacobi-Johnson was sold to EXCO Resources in 1998 and John became Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. At Exco he led the acquisition efforts on over 100 transactions valued at ~$8B. Covey Park Energy recently acquired gas assets from Encana in East Texas. 

Art Krasny is a Managing Director in the Wells Fargo Acquisition & Divestiture Team and has 12 years of banking and energy industry experience. Art began his career with Wells Fargo in Denver and helped build and lead Wells Fargo’s industry leading energy lending platform in Denver. Art moved to Houston in 2012 and joined Wells Fargo Securities in the Mergers and Acquisitions group and most recently joined the A&D team in the beginning of 2014. In his role as Managing Director of the A&D team, Wells Fargo has advised on over $6.5B of gas-weighted transactions in the past 24 months including the Sabine/Forest merger, Apache, Linn, and Newfield Mid-Continent divestitures, and is currently advising Samson Resources on a gas-weighted divestiture. Art has a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Petersburg State University in Russia.
