Bus. Devt: Permian Basin Panel – The Red Hot Wolfcamp Shale Play

Chris Paulsen is Vice President of Business Development for Pioneer Natural Resources. Since joining Pioneer in 2002, Chris has served in various areas including investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, operations, budgeting and planning and subsurface operations. Over the past several years, Chris has presided over $2 billion in joint ventures and asset sales, including the Wolfcamp Joint Venture between Pioneer and Sinochem Group in the southern Midland Basin.
Prior to joining Pioneer, Chris worked for SBC Communications in planning as well as treasury. Chris received his BBA from Baylor University and his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. Chris is a father of three young children and an avid runner, cyclist and skier.

Peter is a senior geologist in the A&D Group for Wells Fargo Securities. Peter started his career with Chevron where he spent the first 8 years of his career as an onshore development geologist, deepwater exploration geologist, and as an advisor to the head of Chevron’s worldwide exploration. Since joining Wells Fargo over a year ago Peter has spent significant time studying the stacked unconventional resource plays in the Permian Basin. Peter received his B.S. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, M.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas, and MBA from Tulane University.

Paul Sparks joined Energen Resources in 1989 and was named to his current position of Senior Vice President Resource Development & Technology in 2012. Paul served as Senior Vice President - Operations from 2006 to 2012. Prior to joining Energen Resources Corporation, he worked with Amoco Production Company. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, Sunrise Rotary and the Downtown Exchange Club . Paul is a 1984 graduate of Mississippi State University and is a Bagley College of Engineering Distinguished Fellow.
