SPE would like to invite you to support the professionalism of engineers and petroleum engineering licensing programs this November 13-14 by participating in the PE Cut Score Session in Houston, Texas. This session will be held at the SPE Houston Office at 10777 Westheimer Road, Suite 1075.

Once every seven years, NCEES and SPE conduct a cut-score session that is used to calibrate the Petroleum Engineering Licensure exam. Once the exam has been reviewed and calibrated, this particular exam becomes the anchor examination for the next six years.

The session is looking for PE licensed engineers in all disciplines, along with engineers who have taken the exam in the last five years. The cut-score session will consist of taking the 2008 exam and self-scoring the results. You would then take part in a focus group to critique the exam, problem by problem. This process insures that engineers taking subsequent exams are assured a fair and solid test.

For assisting with this session, you will be awarded Continuing Education Units (CEU) or Professional Development Hours (PDH) for participation. These can be used to satisfy state board requirements for renewal of your PE license. For additional information, please contact Tom Whipple at SPE, twhipple@spe.org or 972-952-9452.
