This year our local Student Paper Contest Preliminaries will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 in College Station. We are looking for volunteers to help judge this contest. The contest will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a one-hour orientation meeting. The contest itself will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will run to approximately 1:00 p.m. There will be a BBQ lunch following the contest, and judges, students, and families are invited to attend. The deadline to return the Judge Response Forms is Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

Sponsors for Local Student Paper Contest - February 2004

We are looking for individuals or companies to sponsor the prize money for our local Student Paper Contest. The preliminary Contest will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 with the Runoff Contest being held the following Saturday, February 14, 2004. The awards to our students come from a pot of money we collect through sponsorship donations. It is up to each sponsor as to the amount of money they would like to donate (generally donations have been in the amount of $250).

Each session winner in the preliminary Contest will receive $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place. The Runoffs will be held the following weekend and the 1st place winners for each division (Ph.D., Master, Senior, Junior) will receive a check for $500, 2nd place winners receive $250, and 3rd place winners receive $100. The Ph.D., Master and Undergraduate students who win 1st place in the session Runoffs will represent the school in the Gulf Coast Regional Student Paper Contest in the Spring.
