Have you ever been really impressed by a friend or colleagues’ technical or professional contributions to our industry and profession? Now is the time to let everyone else know what you know! The Gulf Coast Section is SPE’s largest section with over 14,000 members so we know there are many deserving individuals in our section who should be recognized for their work and service. So ask yourself, if you don’t nominate them, who will? If you take just 60 seconds to think about it right now, undoubtedly several names will come to mind.
The SPE Awards program recognizes significant technical, professional, and service contributions to the worldwide oil and gas industry and petroleum engineering profession. This peer recognition is an important part of every professional society. SPE Awards Committees are now seeking nominations for 2009 Regional and International Awards. Complete information on all of the awards is available at http://www.spe.org/spe-app/spe/about/honors/index.htm. Examples of Regional Technical Awards include:
- Completions Optimization and Technology
- Drilling Engineering
- Formation Evaluation
- Health, Safety, Social Responsibility, and Environment
- Management and Information
- Production and Operations
- Projects, Facilities, and Construction
- Reservoir Description and Dynamics
The nomination process is simple. You may complete the forms and submit your nominations independently according to the instructions on the above link by February 15, 2009, or your SPE GCS Nominating Committee is here to help. Simply submit your candidate recommendation (name, company, and paragraph on why they should be nominated) to the chair of the GCS Nominating Committee, Allen Shook, at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, but no later than February 6th, 2009. You probably have a winner!
