Dear Oil and Gas Colleagues,

The Society of Petroleum Engineers is once again organizing volunteers for the registration committee of the Offshore Technology Conference. I have volunteered for this committee the past two years and am heading the committee for 2009. We will be looking for around 105 volunteers (15 per session) inclusive of 7 team leads.

The typical responsibilities for a volunteer are:
1. Attend a pre-conference discussion, nominally to be held 2nd May 2009 at Reliant Center.
2. Volunteer at the event for one half-day slot (conference is 4th-7th May 2009). Registration committee volunteers are tasked with general support to ensure attendees go to the right registration desks and get processed smoothly.
3. Team leads have the additional responsibility of contacting your group prior to the session to confirm attendence, keeping a copy of the roster with you, and assigning/shifting volunteers during the session depending on attendee loads at the various check-in desks.

In exchange for your time, you will receive a coveted Orange Lot parking pass and conference badge both good for the entire show. You'll also get the chance to help people out, converse with colleagues, and generally have a good time wearing an attractive blue OTC volunteer vest (sorry, vests have to be returned after your session). As in previous years, we'll have a small area in the main hall behind the registration desks to transition between sessions and store your belongings.

In order to express your interest, I'd appreciate if you could fill out the attached information in Excel. I will be keeping a master roster and will need to submit this to the organizers around the end of March. They will then print the badges and parking passes to be handed out at the pre-conference meeting. With respect to privacy, your information may be maintained for seeding next year's volunteer list, but will not be used for any purpose beyond those specified by the OTC.

I look forward to hearing from you - please feel free to share with your colleagues if you know someone who is interested. If you're one of the rare souls who wants to volunteer for more than one session, just put your details in twice, once for each session.

Regards,
